The Honorary Officers and Council of EHRS are proud to announce the appointment of Rabbi Mark Goldsmith as its Senior Rabbi with effect from Summer 2019. We acknowledge the very significant achievements of Rabbi Goldsmith during his 12-year tenure as Principal Rabbi and Rabbinic Partner at Alyth (North Western Reform) Synagogue and look forward to working with him at EHRS.
Our current Senior Rabbis, Rabbi Daniel Smith and Rabbi Steven Katz, will both be retiring in 2019 and we take this opportunity to thank them both for their huge contribution to the life of EHRS and each of the former communities of EDRS and HRS. Rabbi Goldsmith will be continuing a line of very distinguished Senior Rabbis of both communities stretching back more than 80 years and is looking forward to working together with Rabbi Neil Kraft and Rabbi Emily Reitsma-Jurman, both of whom continue to be vibrant members of our Rabbinic team.
Rabbi Goldsmith has told us that he is "... delighted to have been appointed to lead Edgware and Hendon Reform Synagogue as its Senior Rabbi. It will be a privilege to get to know you, the members of the community and to hear what makes you proud of EHRS. I look forward to working with EHRS’s lay leaders, Rabbis and staff team to take the first steps with the community into its next chapter. In Pirke Avot, Ben Zoma asked, “Who is wise?” He answered, “One who learns from everyone.” Let’s learn and build EHRS’s future together.”
We wish Rabbi Goldsmith a hearty Mazeltov and look forward to welcoming him and his family to EHRS.
