“It's a fun, relaxing environment with great banter!” Sam
"I come along to the Friday night meals to spend time with my friends, and of course, to have good food! The extra events like bowling & pub quizzes are a good opportunity to meet new people and socialize. Overall, the EDRS Young Adults group provides a great atmosphere which is both relaxing after a hard week at work, and fun to chat in." Paul
"It's a place I can go to meet like minded people and I have definitely extended my friendship circle since attending events." Emma
I’m a 23-year-old reform Jew, not overly religious and not always sure if I do want to go to Jewish events, which ones are for me. With the world of Facebook, I’m invited to Jewish events on a regular basis. Meeting new people is quite a hard task at most “Jew dos” – people can be cliquey and not entirely open to talking to anyone new and suspicious of those who do venture over to try to make conversation.
Now, I’m not trying to sound like a salesman, but I think EDRS can be different. We genuinely are an incredibly welcoming bunch – I’ve never been to an event where anyone who has come on their own has left without having spoken to many new people. We organise a wide range of events so if a Friday night dinner is not for you, a night at the casino may well be and if not, a pub quiz or a day of activities including archery may suit you, or a midnight treasure hunt through the streets of London. You get the gist.
But to focus briefly on Friday nights. I know many of you, when it comes to the end of a long, tiring week may not be that excited by the thought of heading out for the evening. However, and I write this inspired after returning from this month’s Friday night dinner, I can honestly say that I really enjoy every event we run. We always see new faces and its lovely to meet new like minded people.
Our Friday night dinners are held every other month and sandwiched between them will be a range of other social events throughout the year. If you’re not sure, give it a try, just once. Join us on facebook contact Lisa to come along or to help organise some events that appeal to you. It would be fantastic to see even more new faces this year.” Tasha
