The EDRS Burial Scheme is organised through the Jewish Joint Burial Society (JJBS) and gives EDRS’ members the right to a burial at the Western Cemetery in Bulls Cross Ride, Cheshunt (or any other such ground as is available from time to time via the JJBS), or a cremation. There are also now options, through the JJBS, for Woodland Burial and Mixed Faith burials but kindly note there are additional costs incurred for these.
Alternatively a member can be buried at a cemetery of their choice with a contribution up to a value of £2,100 (as at 2012) less, where appropriate, any overage reduction. This is paid in the form of a grant from the Funeral Expenses Scheme EDRS has with the Jewish Joint Burial Society. Should the funeral cost less than £2,100 the lesser figure is paid. To make a claim following a funeral elsewhere a copy of the receipted invoice and a copy of the appropriate death certificate will be required. The claim is made by EDRS on behalf of the estate of the deceased.
Kindly note that Burial at Edgwarebury Cemetery is NOT included in the EDRS funeral scheme. Burial at Edgwarebury is under the direction of WLS Undertakings Ltd and incurs significant costs.
