Sunday 17 November 2013

I would like to thank everyone involved in Mitzah Day on Sunday 17 November. I was at EDRS on Sunday morning to see the unpackers and sorters of all the clothes, toys, old prayer books and fruit and flowers  and they were doing a magnificent job.

I then walked to Canons Park and spoke to the volunteers who were working very hard helping to clean up the flower beds and  planting  new flowers. Thank goodness it was not raining! Then we were off to Sainsbury’s in Edgware where volunteers were persuading people to donate non-perishable items for homeless action in Barnet – apparently one generous person at Stanmore Sainsbury’s donated a whole trolley of food!

And  finally to the Community Mitzvah Day  tea where 70 elderly people were fed and entertained by some very caring volunteers. I particularly was impressed by our youngsters who helped with the preparation and serving of  the food  and calling out the bingo numbers! I know these activities  were only a small part of all the social action and giving that took place on Sunday and I would like to thank all the volunteers that gave up their time and made donations to help the various causes and charities on behalf of EDRS.
