Hadracha Graduation 2015
On Tuesday 30th June, Edgware and District Reform Synagogue were proud to hold the Graduation of their Hadracha course, to celebrate the class of young people completing a two year leadership programme.
The course was written and implemented by the EDRS’ Director of Youth who led the group in monthly sessions where they delivered training on; informal Jewish education, child protection and programme writing and delivery to name a few. As well as this the young people were given work experience within EDRS’ successful weekly clubs, Orot Sunday school and play schemes.
The Synagogue was filled with people; friends and family of the Graduates, as well as the Synagogues Rabbi’s, honorary officers and community members.
EDRS were delighted to welcome special guests The Deputy Mayor of Barnet, Councillor Alison Cornelius to the Graduation, along with Libby Burkeman of The Movement for Reform Judaism.
Graduates were also treated to a special surprise video message from comedian Matt Lucas, he congratulated them and reminisced about when he was a teenager also doing Hadracha at EDRS. He wished them Mazel Tov and told them how jealous he is of what they will now get to be involved in.
Emma Senitt EDRS Director of Youth: “It was a huge success; we are so proud of what this group have achieved over the past two years. Many of them have been attending clubs at EDRS since they were young. We have seen them all grow and develop into wonderful role models, and it’s fantastic that they now want to give back to the community that has given them so much.” Whilst addressing the group Miss Senitt spoke to the graduates, many of whom she has known since they were 5 or 6 and expressed who excitement of seeing them grow into amazing young adults and cant wait to watch them on the next part of their journey.
